One of the doubts that our patients have when the Doctor prescribes the treatment is how to put the minoxidil in the hair.

Minoxidil is a vasodilator treatment, this treatment is used to stop hair loss, the patient can administer it orally or topically applied to the scalp to stimulate hair growth.

It is usually indicated for cases of androgenic alopecia.

Application or use of minoxidil (foam) on the hair

Most patients prefer the application of minoxidil at night, because of its ease and comfort.

For the application of minoxidil it is advisable to have dry and clean hair.
We put minoxidil foam in the palm of the hand the size of a walnut for each area of the scalp that we are going to massage.

(the areas are: frontal line, receding hairline and crown).

Then, spread the foam massaging in circles until the scalp absorbs the topical.
Repeat the same procedure with each zone until all of them are completed. Remember that, to facilitate absorption, it is advisable to gently massage the scalp in each area to be treated.
Once finished, it is very important to wash your hands with soap, cleaning any residue left on your hand.

Important notes:

Avoid contact of minoxidil in the eyes, rinse with plenty of water immediately if it happens.
It should be applied once or twice a day, depending on how advanced the alopecia is and as indicated by the trichologist.
Remember that it should be applied directly on the scalp with dry hair.
It is very important to know that once you start using it, you have to keep it for life. If you stop taking it, hair loss will occur again.

Minoxidil hair treatment clarifications
